Shine, Raleigh, shine!

 

Comprised of nearly 80,000, four-inch aluminum squares, backlit at night with energy-saving LED fixtures, and measuring 9,284 square feet, the Cree Shimmer Wall is located on the new Raleigh Convention Center's western exterior. The artwork represents Raleigh's essence as a "city of oaks" and also complements its innovative and dynamic nature. The wall was funded by a gift from Cree, a Durham-based manufacturer of semiconductors and devices that enhance lighting, power and communications products. (00:29)
